Facebook comic book

So after a bit of thinking and talking through my ideas with Matt I've decided to go for a comic book approach to my project.
A facebook comic book..
Which will focus on how what we say and how we act online is different to how we act in real life. Our digital identities can be different to our everyday identity. We can say more through networking sites...things we wouldn't normally say in real life to the person...e.g breaking up through facebook..

I especially liked garfield and peanuts comic strips as they are normally quite short and simple...and just a 4 frame sort of strip.

So here is my initial idea for the storyboard...

Food Porn!

lol, yep theres a group called food porn...
But doesn't looking at all these photos make you kind of hungry?...

Matt Stuart

I found some work by Matt Stuart that interested me...his photos are mainly based around people off the street...I like the colour he captures in his photographs and they're also really quirky
Here are a few pics I like :)

I think less in the photo is better...so for an out for coffee setting it looks better just with the coffee cups...im also thinking picnic setting...at a party...at uni....

Photo shoot...shooting for ideas....

Hmm soooo I was thinking....

Thinking of keeping with different social settings...but instead of the presence of people they will be replaced by little messages...At the start I was thinking of doing a gradual fade out of people from settings...so sitting having coffee, then blurring out of the image...then introducing signs then having replies...but I think I will go with settings and messages without people...I think it makes my idea a bit stronger...the idea that people don't enjoy intimate moments anymore as they are over using networking sites...

Haha I found this online...pretty much sums up my idea XD

Proposal...

Hmm so I was thinking instead of this alter ego thing...maybe I will focus on how social networking sites have taken away our ability to and need to communicate face to face...WHICH IS A BAD THING.

How can i portray this idea in a simple way?....

I could possibly take photos of people in different social settings either wearing signs with what they would say online orrrrr people with boxes on their heads? literally losing the face to face contact?....

Brain-storming...

KA POW!

*Fiddling around with a 30sec shutter speed...

Thinking of possibly focusing in on split personality/alter ego for project one? ...I'm not 100% sure yet

P.S ...I also bought a few packs of the led finger lights and got my boyfriend Matt to pose in a few photos...

Different use of light can make the photo really interesting...maybe colour could symbolise the difference between the sides of the personality?

"The Hug"

"The Hug" by Nan Goldin
From the book: Singular Images: Essays on remarkable photographs
Why this photograph interested me...
It is not your typical 'couples' photograph where the man and woman are making out passionately in direct view of the camera in front of the Eiffel Tower. This image in contrast captures an intimate and passionate moment. The only thing in view is a mans arm wrapped tightly but not agressively around the woman in the blue dress. She is facing away from the camera and he is hidden behind her in shadow. I think hiding the identities of the man and woman give the photograph a deeper personal quality and made me feel as a viewer as if I was imposing on a private moment.

3 Flickr Groups

http://www.flickr.com/groups/wild_child/

I think children are fun to photograph. They pull faces, they have endless amounts of energy and they don't care if their hair is out of place.

http://www.flickr.com/groups/newzealandphotography/

I think New Zealand has a wide range of different landscapes to shoot and lot of cultural history. You don't have to travel far to get awesome landscape photos.

http://www.flickr.com/groups/wonderful_world_of_macro/

I picked this group because I really love macro photography and It gives you the chance to see things that you may not have picked up on at first glance. It gives you a chance to photograph something familiar from a different perspective.
